Wuppertal is particularly famous for its unique suspension railroad, which opened in 1901 and still dominates the cityscape today. Numerous pioneers from industry and science, such as Friedrich Bayer, founder of Bayer AG, have also left a lasting mark on Wuppertal.

If you like going to the theater and the opera, you should definitely pay a visit to theopera house and theTheater am Engelsgarten during your vacation in NRW. The performances of theTanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch also take place here. The opera house, the Theater am Engelsgarten and the symphony orchestra are part of the Wuppertaler Bühnen and are always worth a visit.

The Crazy JUMP Trampolinpark is also exciting, especially if you are traveling with children. Here your little ones can bounce around on 5,000 square meters, around 100 trampolines and two floors and really let off steam. Or how about a round of mini golf?

A visit to the museum

Especially on rainy days, a visit to a museum is the ideal leisure activity to add variety to your vacation in NRW. In addition to theVon der Heydt-Museum, there are other exciting museums in Wuppertal that you should definitely visit: The Museum of Early Industrialization, which opened in 1983, deals with the social and economic consequences of industrialization. Experience the restored original streetcars up close at the Bergisches Straßenbahnmuseum- visitors can still ride the restored streetcars through the Kaltenbachtal valley and enjoy the green landscape on the line that was closed in 1969.

Not an insider tip but an absolute must-see in Wuppertal: the Visiodrom in the Gaskessel! Here you can experience fantastic projection shows on Europe's largest 360° screen covering over 6,500 square meters.
